Hardware Design Technical Specialist

Job Description

Our client located in Toronto; Ontario is seeking a Hardware Designer- Technical Specialist responsible for the hardware reliability activities regarding the hardware products within HEM Engineering perimeter.

 

This will be a day shift position (8 hour per day)

Pay rate- $60-$62/hr.

Starting from October 28, 2024 (6 months contract)

Hybrid Position: 2 days a week onsite and 3 days WFH. (Occasional travels (site/vendors, training and conferences) as required.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor the hardware reliability of the hardware systems in the field
  • Maintain a table with all the hardware returns from the field and the reason for the returns.
  • Prepare and run the monthly meeting of the Failure Review Board
  • Review and maintain the Reliability monitoring process
  • Conduct root cause analyses of failed hardware as required by stakeholders
  • Work closely with the groups in HEM Engineering to coordinate the activities related to the root cause analyses and reliability monitoring.

Requirements

 

  • 10+ years of Electronics Design and troubleshooting experience: Cabling, Grounding techniques, Surge Protection.
  • Minimum 15 years of Electronics Design experience, with a proven track record.
  • Excellent Knowledge of the Electrical Engineering Principles: Power circuits design, Analog and Digital Electronic circuits including Microprocessors, Telecommunications circuits.
  • Engineering tools: CAD system (AutoCAD Electrical), Multi-meter, Oscilloscope, Protocol Analyzers.
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to design, simulate, and test electronic circuits
  • Excellent verbal skills to allow clear communication without ambiguity
  • Excellent writing skills to allow documents, to be prepared in a clear and concise format with sufficient information so that further clarification is not required
  • The ability to follow directions and work instructions, and to use good judgement in the performance of assigned work
  • The ability to present pros and cons for various courses of action
  • Keeping track of progress on all assigned tasks.
  • Verifying that all assigned work has been completed accurately.
  • Outstanding troubleshooting skills.
  • Design experience in Railway Signalling industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the SelTrac hardware products.
  • Devising and running tests to verify functionality, and identifying and solving problems
  • Excellent understanding of the train interfaces and train operations.
  • Familiar with train maintenance, train components, sub-systems and various train designs from different manufacturers.
  • Understand, read, and design train interface electrical schematics.
  • Demonstrating a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness and breadth of knowledge beyond the primary discipline in solving problems.
  • Certification: PEO
