Toolroom Supervisor

Job Description

Our client located in Scarborough, Ontario, is seeking a Tool room supervisor responsible for overseeing the tool room operations. A Tool Room Supervisor manages inventory, ensures tool maintenance, and coordinates with production teams. Key responsibilities include tool allocation, safety compliance, and staff supervision.

 

This will be a day shift position (40 hours per week)

Pay rate: $75k or more (depending on the experience)

Starting from ASAP

This is a Permanent position

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes and maintain Production within established procedures, processes, and budget, managing, quoting, estimating, and forecasting of revenues.
  • Supervision and organization of the workforce, including but not limited to, continuous monitoring of the workforce, identifies training requirements, schedules and monitors vacations and absenteeism.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures and placement of manpower to meet company's production objectives.
  • Train and mentor new employees to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Identify and resolve production problems.
  • Liaisons with Maintenance, Quality and Engineering Departments to investigate tooling or manufacturing process related.
  • Provides leadership, where employees are engaged contributors to continually improve performance and results and achieves daily productivity targets.
  • Initiate process/continuous improvement, and Lean Six Sigma initiatives on the floor (i.e. reduce waste of product and material).
  • Manage production personnel, resolving concerns, reviewing performance, and maintaining morale.
  • Monitor production and quality reports.
  • Works with management to plan and implement programs supporting short- and long-term business needs.
  • Works in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the company's Health and Safety Roles and Responsibilities. Promotes the company's safety vision.
  • Communicated company policies to all employees.
  • Conducts performance evaluations with all employees.
  • Create, maintain, and monitor continuous improvement program in the tool room and establish targets and milestones for direct reports.
  • Prepare tool fabrications and designs.
  • Document equipment repairs and prepared required report
  • Liaise with tooling engineers to prepare new designs or modifications
  • Capable of building tools, dies jigs and fixtures to designed prints and/or instructions as required by the Production facilities.
  • Produce and construct prototype tooling and be able to develop required results from concepts.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair all dies as required.
  • Operate all standard tool room machinery and equipment; Lathe, Grinders, Milling Machines etc.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in tool room operations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and use all standard measuring tools and equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in using various tools and equipment related to tool room operations.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to tool room operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
