Production Supervisor

Job Description

Our client is a manufacturer of Die Extrusions for various industries (mainly Automotive). They are looking for a Production Supervisor to join their Production Team.

Position: Production Supervisor (reporting to Plant Manager)

Dayshift

Permanent role

Location: Markham, ON   (Woodbine/Hwy 7)

Payrange: $70,000 to $80,000 to start

Position Overview:
This role is responsible for overseeing CNC machine operations, ensuring that all machining processes meet quality standards and production targets. This role involves managing a team of CNC operators and machinists, coordinating workflow, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise in the machining process to ensure that production schedules are met.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Oversight and Team Management

  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule CNC machining jobs to meet production demands.
  • Monitor the workflow to ensure efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes in demand, equipment issues, or staffing levels to maintain a consistently high level of on-time delivery of dies.
  • Coordinate with other departments in the shop floor, procurement, logistics, and sales.
  • Supervise, train, and develop a team of CNC operators and machinists.

2. Quality Control:

  • Identify and address any quality issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure the quality of our dies are always consistent and up to standards.

3. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

  • Identify and resolve issues with CNC machines or processes promptly.
  • Coordinate with maintenance technicians for repairs and troubleshooting as needed.

4. Process Improvement:

  • Evaluate current processes and workflows, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement new methods, tools, or technology.

 

 

 

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Associate degree or certification in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience (5-Axis and 3-Axis), with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge of CNC programming, machine operation, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving, troubleshooting and decision-making ability
  • Strong knowledge of production management processes, quality control principles, and lean manufacturing.

 

Experience:

  • Manufacturing: 3 years (required)
  • Supervising: 1 year (preferred)
  • CNC 5 Axis/3 Axis: 2 years (required)
